Cursor MCP Server Setup
Add the 3D AI Studio MCP server to Cursor with a single mcp.json entry, sign in, and generate 3D models, images and PBR materials from Cursor's agent mode.
With 3D AI Studio connected, Cursor's agent can create 3D models, images and PBR materials for the project you are working on: placeholder art for a game prototype, a product model for a web viewer, or textures for a scene.
New to 3D AI Studio? See the 3D model generation MCP for what it can do and example results.
Want Cursor to do the setup itself? Paste the brief from Set Up With Your Agent into Cursor's agent.
What you need
- A 3D AI Studio account on a paid plan.
- Cursor, updated to a recent version.
Settings look different? Cursor moves its MCP settings around between versions, so the steps below can go out of date. Cursor's agent can usually set it up for you. Paste this into the agent chat:
Add the 3D AI Studio MCP server to my Cursor setup: https://mcp.3daistudio.com/mcp
(remote server, OAuth sign in, no API key).
Follow https://docs.3daistudio.com/mcp-setup.md, and if this Cursor version works differently, use the current way to add a remote MCP server.Setup
Add the server
Open (or create) one of these files:
~/.cursor/mcp.jsonto make 3D AI Studio available in all projects, or.cursor/mcp.jsonin a project folder to use it in that project only.
Add the 3daistudio entry. If the file already has other servers, add it next to them inside mcpServers:
{
"mcpServers": {
"3daistudio": {
"url": "https://mcp.3daistudio.com/mcp"
}
}
}Do not add any API key, header or token. Sign in happens in the browser.
Sign in
Open Cursor Settings and go to the MCP section (called Tools & MCP in recent versions). Find 3daistudio in the list. If it shows a login, connect or needs authentication action, click it.
A 3D AI Studio page opens:
- Sign in with your 3D AI Studio account.
- Under Use credits from, keep Personal or choose a team.
- Click Authorize.
Back in Cursor, the server turns active and lists its tools.
Try it
Open the agent chat and ask:
"Use 3D AI Studio to generate a stylized wooden crate as a GLB for my game."
Check that it worked
In Cursor Settings → MCP, 3daistudio should be enabled with its tools listed. Then ask the agent: "What's my 3D AI Studio credit balance?"
Tips for using it in Cursor
- Cursor shows results as links. Open them in the browser or in your dashboard. Ask the agent to download a file into your project if you want it in the repository.
- To use a local image, the agent gives you a link to an upload page. See Images & Uploads.
- You can turn individual tools on or off in Cursor's MCP settings, for example to allow only image tools in a project.
Cursor specific fixes
| Problem | Fix |
|---|---|
3daistudio shows an error or stays red | Check the JSON is valid and the URL is exactly https://mcp.3daistudio.com/mcp. Then toggle the server off and on |
| The server asks you to log in again | Click its login or connect action in Cursor Settings → MCP and authorize again |
| The agent does not use the tools | Make sure you are using the agent (not a plain chat mode) and that 3daistudio is enabled |
More fixes are on the Troubleshooting page.
