MCP Quick Start

Connect Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, Claude Code or Codex to 3D AI Studio in about two minutes: add the connector URL, sign in, approve, and generate your first model.

Updated October 2026

This page gets you from zero to your first AI generated 3D model inside your assistant in about two minutes. If you want the exact clicks for one specific assistant, jump to its setup guide.

New to 3D AI Studio? See the 3D model generation MCP for what it can do and example results.

What you need

  • A 3D AI Studio account on a paid plan (see plans).
  • An AI assistant that supports remote MCP servers, such as Claude, ChatGPT, Claude Code, Cursor, Codex, VS Code with Copilot, or OpenCode.

These two values are all you will ever type during setup:

SettingValue
Connector URLhttps://mcp.3daistudio.com/mcp
Server name (for tools that ask for one)3daistudio

Use the URL exactly as shown, including mcp. at the start and /mcp at the end. www.3daistudio.com and older guides that end in /sse will not work.

Connect in four steps

Step 1: Check your plan

The connector is included in every paid 3D AI Studio plan. You can confirm your plan, and see the connector URL, in Settings → AI Assistants (MCP).

Step 2: Add the connector to your assistant

Add a new remote MCP server (some apps call it a "custom connector") with the connector URL. How you do that depends on the app:

AssistantWhere to add it
Claude (web and desktop)Settings → Connectors → Add custom connector, then paste the URL. Full guide
ChatGPTSettings → Connectors → Create, then paste the URL. Full guide
Claude CodeRun claude mcp add --transport http --scope user 3daistudio https://mcp.3daistudio.com/mcp. Full guide
CursorAdd the server to your mcp.json. Full guide
CodexRun codex mcp add 3daistudio --url https://mcp.3daistudio.com/mcp. Full guide
VS Code (Copilot)Add the server to .vscode/mcp.json. Full guide
OpenCodeAdd the server to opencode.json. Full guide
Anything elseAdd a remote (Streamable HTTP) MCP server with the URL. Full guide

Menus or commands look different? AI apps change their MCP settings often, so these steps can go out of date within days. Your assistant usually knows its current setup, so just ask it. Coding agents can often set it up for you:

How do I add a remote MCP server in this app right now? I want to connect 3D AI Studio:
https://mcp.3daistudio.com/mcp (OAuth sign in, no API key).
Use https://docs.3daistudio.com/mcp-setup.md for the details, and set it up for me if you can.

Step 3: Sign in and approve

Your assistant opens a 3D AI Studio page in your browser.

  1. Sign in with your 3D AI Studio account (skip this if you are already signed in).
  2. Review the permissions under "This app will be able to". The page lists exactly what the assistant can do. See Security & Privacy for what each one means.
  3. Choose which credits to use in the "Use credits from" menu. Personal is selected by default. If you belong to a team, you can pick the team's credits instead.
  4. Click Authorize.

The page tells you which app is asking to connect. If you did not start a connection yourself, click Cancel.

Step 4: Generate your first model

Go back to your assistant and ask for something. A few ideas:

  • "Make a low poly fox for my game."
  • "Create a three headed wolf statue I can 3D print, and export it as an STL."
  • "Generate an image of a cozy wizard hut, then turn it into a 3D model."
  • "What 3D models can you make with 3D AI Studio, and what do they cost?"

The assistant starts the generation and checks on it until it is done. 3D models usually take 1 to 5 minutes; images take seconds. The result appears in the chat (or as a link, depending on your assistant) and in your dashboard.

Check that it worked

Ask your assistant: "What's my 3D AI Studio credit balance?"

If it answers with a number, you are connected. If it says it has no such tool, or asks you to sign in again, see Troubleshooting.

You can also open Settings → AI Assistants (MCP). Your assistant should be listed under Connected Apps.

Step by step guides for each assistant

Using a coding agent? Claude Code, Codex, Cursor and similar tools can set up the connector themselves. Send them the agent setup page.
